This session, co-hosted by an immigration attorney and HR consultant, will provide practical strategies to help you prepare for and respond to ICE activity in the workplace.

 Brendan Venter, Partner at Harris Beach Murtha

Brendan is a Partner in the Immigration Practice Group at Harris Beach Murtha. He assists employers throughout the United States, of all sizes and in nearly every industry, with obtaining visas and work authorization for skilled employees. His practice includes an emphasis on working with college/university faculty members, medical professionals, research scientists, engineers, IT professionals, and others on complex immigration issues involving the full range of temporary work visas and permanent residency (“green card”) processes. He is a leading attorney nationally in the specific niche of physician and healthcare immigration, and has a unique expertise in navigating issues specific to international medical graduates and physicians. As part of his practice, Brendan additionally counsels individual clients in family-based and humanitarian immigration processes, including marriage-based/family-based visa processes, consular processing, and asylum applications, and he frequently works with investors, entrepreneurs, and start-ups in securing investment-based or trade-based nonimmigrant visas. Brendan also routinely advises employers on immigration compliance matters, including I-9 compliance, document retention, and other obligations imposed by US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the US Department of State, and the US Department of Labor.
